Hey All! November 2025 was a light news month overall, but we did still have a few topics to chat about. With the Spartan Beast World Championship in Abu Dhabi being the primary piece of News. 1. Savage Race: The final Savage Race of the year was earlier this month on November 2nd. It was a highlight event and Savage pushed for bigger competition as they offered a BIGGER prize pool than normal. With $2,500 going to the 1st spot, and athletes paid down to 5th place, we saw a fun battle and some solid athletes show up. Along with bigger prize money compared to prior years, Savage is also seeing bigger overall participation and crowds. They saw the biggest participation in one of their races in the last 5 years! A huge positive showing for the sport of OCR in the United States.
2. A Spartan Screw-up: Surprise surprise, Spartan screws something up again. This time, they didn’t get Ultra Buckles out to the SLO-CAL race in time. So that huge accomplishment of making it 32+ miles and 60+ obstacles leaves you with…. at least a shirt! But ya’ll will be waiting a little while for the fancy BUCKLE.
3. Spartan Shirts 2026: Spartan had some announcements earlier about medals and shirts coming for 2026. And the community was a little bit in an uproar. It appeared the shirts had no distinction on them, for which event they were for. After some feedback from the Spartan community to Spartan Race brand, they decided to make a change for the good. And were seeing a little stripe on the upper shoulder with a color representing which event distance you did.
4. Christian Brown Johnson completed his big challenge. The 7 50k’s on 7 continents in 7 days. AMAZING.
5. Kristopher Mendoza is making a comeback! Hear about his SLOCAL Ultra race on Obstacle Running Adventures, and we expect to see him out running in some OCR events again next year. hint hint… WTM !?!?!
6. Robert Killian stepped away from running Age Group races and hung out with Shaq.
7. Spartan Beast World Championship in Abu Dhabi: Here’s the big story of the Month. A BUNCH of legit, high level athletes showed up and raced this desert championship. Live coverage was a blast to watch, with crazy sand dune running, climbing, battles, and placement changes throughout.
