What the Hell Happened in OCR this Month August 2024

What the Hell Happened in OCR this Month?!?! August 2024 edition

NEWS: EVENTS

Costa Rica FISO OCR World Championship.

We’ll keep things positive to start.
The appearance on this event was solid. Athletes came in with custom jerseys to represent their countries. Opening ceremonies to welcome them in. It had all the bells and whistles to make this event feel special. Almost Olympics’esque.

And overall, lots of positive reviews from Athletes over there who had a great weekend.

But. You know an OCR World Championship doesn’t go down without a little controversy, right?!?!

So. The negatives.
Issues arose all weekend out here. From differences in rules between Age Group and Elite that weren’t communicated effectively to the Athletes. Causing chaos on course for what’s expected.

To shuffling around podium winners more than a deck of cards at a Vegas casino. It’s like, “You’re a winner! No wait, you’re not. Actually, you’re all Gold Winners. Maybe? Or not….” At the end of the day, I don’t even know who won this thing on the women’s side.

And another kicker? Hot shot social media man shows up with an army of followers to claim their own personal jungle gym on course for a few hours.

Should these FISO folks keep running this rodeo?!?!
I don’t know man.
They seem to have the goal of being the high and mighty professional OCR event company of the world, but between you and me, it’s startin’ to look like they’re all Hat and no Cattle.

But hey, that’s just my two cents. Maybe next year they’ll get it together, or maybe it’ll be a bigger mess than a goat ropin’ in a tornado. Either way, it’ll be fun to watch go down.

Anyway guys, enough bashing on the FISO crew.
To wrap this all up, let’s enjoy a cool YouTube that OCR Athlete Jason Williams put out there, running the 3K course. Go to his YouTube channel and check out his other videos. Some solid stuff in there from Savage, OCRWC and other OCR events.

West Virginia, here we come!

NEWS: ATHLETES

Hey everyone. If you didn’t already know. DJ Fox is an endurance f’in legend. Last year, this guy took on the Colorado Trail, a gnarly 500-mile beast that’s got more up and downs than a rollercoaster. He made it over 400-miles, but pneumonia won this round and took him out hard.

Did that stop him?!?!

Nope!
DJ went back out there for a rematch. And guess what?!?! He crushed it. He hit the Fastest Known Time, running the entire Colorado Trail in just over 7 days. That’s like doing a 100K every day for a week, but with 90,000 feet of elevation gain thrown in for fun.

We’re all super proud of him and his insane accomplishment. After such a wild ride, we hope he’s kicking back, relaxing and letting those legs recover. And let’s not forget the amazing crew that supported him along the way – big thanks to all of them. DJ Fox, you’re a legend, and we can’t wait to see you back out on the trails.
